Bean Bag Safety Enhancement Kit FAQs

Why are you voluntarily recalling pre-July 2013 round and L-shaped vinyl bean bags?

Ace Casual Furniture and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced the voluntary recall of about 2.2 million bean bag chairs following the deaths of two children. The zippers on all round and L-shaped vinyl bean bag chairs sold before July 2013 can be opened by children who can then crawl inside, get trapped and suffocate or choke on the bean bag chair’s foam beads. To remedy the bean bag chairs, we’re providing owners of the chairs free Safety Enhancement Kits that include three metal zipper-disabling rings, instructions for installing the rings and consumer safety information. The rings ensure that zippers remain permanently closed and cannot be opened.

What should owners of the recalled bean bag chairs do while waiting for the repair kit?

Owners of the recalled bean bag chairs should inspect their bean bag chairs for any zippers that can be opened, immediately remove those bean bag chairs from use by children and contact Ace Bayou for a free Safety Enhancement Kit in order to permanently disable the zippers so that they can no longer be opened.

Which bean bag models are you voluntarily recalling?
